
Coachify uses student attributes to organize and share the information you track about your students. The number of options and settings might be intimidating at first, but the power and flexibility they give you is well worth learning about them!

When creating a student attribute, you need to pick the type of attribute. The types currently available are:

* **Checkbox:** if checked, the value is Yes, otherwise the value is No
* **Date:** a simple date (does not store the time or time zone)
* **Discord username:** a text field that requires the Discord name format, e.g. Joshua#6161
* **Email address:** a valid formatted email address
* **Link:** a website link that becomes clickable when you save it
* **Note:** a long text field that allows for rich text formatting
* **Text:** a short text field that does not allow rich text formatting
* **Number:** a real number that can be negative or positive or zero
* **Dropdown:** a dropdown list where you create the options available and can be a single select or multi-select
* **League of Legends champion:** a dropdown list of League of Legends champions that can be a single select or multi-select
* **League of Legends positions:** a dropdown list of League of Legends lane positions that can be a single select or multi-select
* **League of Legends ranks:** a dropdown list of League of Legends ranks (e.g. Gold) that can be a single select or multi-select
* **League of Legends ranks (detailed):** a dropdown list of detailed League of Legends ranks (e.g. Gold III) that can be a single select or multi-select

In addition to picking the attribute’s type, you have other properties to set:

* **Default Value:** allows you to define a value that is automatically used for new students
* **Description:** this is an optional text field for a more detailed description about the attribute
* **Advanced Options**
  * **Display in student details:** checking this box will display the attribute on the student details page. Generally coaches want all attributes to be displayed on the student details page.
  * **Share with student:** do you want this attribute and its value to be shared with the student?
  * **Allow student to edit value:** if you have shared this attribute with the student, you can allow the student to edit the value themselves
  * **Mark as required:** flag the attribute as “required” so the student will update it
  * **Display in students table:** this will show or hide the attribute in your student overview table. Typically coaches pick a few important attributes to show in the overview table for easy searching and sorting across students.
  * **Display priority:** there are options to set the display priority for both the student details page and the student overview table. Increasing the value pushes the attribute closer to the top of the page or to the left of the table.

By default, every coach account is created with the following attributes. It’s important to note, however, that these can still be modified or deleted just like any other attributes.
