
## Student Setup

After creating an account on Coachify, there are several steps to take in order to fully complete your setup. The first step is reviewing your [students attributes](/app/students/settings). A student attribute is how Coachify stores your student information, allowing you to organize it and (optionally) share it directly with the student. Some student attributes are automatically created for you but those can be changed or deleted if desired. As a coach, think about the things you normally write down in a notebook or in Google docs - that is what you’ll want to track through student attributes.

## Adding Students

Once you have a framework for organizing the information about your students, it’s time to create student profiles. Creating a new student profile only requires filling out the new student form; you do not need your student to create an account on Coachify. However, if you want to share notes with your student directly, you can get an invite link for them from their student detail page (the page you see after clicking the student’s name in the [students overview table](/app/students)). If the student creates an account using the invite link you sent them, their user account will be automatically connected to their student profile. This lets them see any student attributes that have the option “Share with student” checked. You’ll also have the option to send a chat message to the student through Coachify.

## Student Reviews

If your student has created an account on Coachify, in addition to seeing their student attributes, they can also leave a profile review about your coaching. On the same page as their student attributes, they will see a button at the top of the page, just under your name, saying "Write a review". Reviews consist of a thumbs up or down to show overall approval/disapproval and an optional text box. 

Once a student has left a review, it needs to be approved by you as the coach. Pending reviews show up on your [home dashboard](/app) and can be approved from there. Once a review has been approved, it will show up on your public profile. If you choose not to approve the review (e.g., it was in bad faith or trolling), you have the option to "Ignore" the review. This hides the review from your pending reviews list and does NOT display it on your profile. Finally, you can select one of your reviews as a "Featured Review" which displays that review at the top of the list of reviews on your public profile.

## Public Profile

If you plan on advertising your coaching services, you will want to fill out your [public profile](/app/account/profile). Potential students who have never met you will want to know about your background or qualifications, the types of services you offer, and generally what to expect if they purchase coaching from you. Keeping those things in mind while setting up your profile will help convert potential students into active students. Including your social media accounts will also help these possible customers learn more about you. 

While the Edit Profile page is straightforward, the one thing that might be new is the “Link Description” field. This is the text that shows up when someone links your public profile page in Discord or on Twitter. Do your best to make it a motivating sales pitch in 2-3 sentences - the link preview these apps show is your best chance to convince people to click it and read more about your coaching services. Make it pop!

When you’ve finished updating your profile, click the “View Profile” button on the top right to see it and share the URL with others! The format of the public profile URL will be `coachify.gg/@<your_user_name>`

## Products & Services

Part of running your own coaching business is deciding what type of services you are going to offer to your students. Most coaches offer some sort of one-on-one live coaching (typically 45 to 60 minutes) and/or VOD review (either live or recorded). In order to display pricing and track what students have purchased, you will want to create a product for each service you offer. Creating a product is a fairly simple form on the [Products page](/app/products):

- Choose a descriptive name
- Add a short description: this will be displayed when users click “Learn More” while viewing the product on your profile
- The default price
- If the “Visible” box is checked, this product will be displayed on your public profile so students can purchase it themselves. When the box is unchecked, you can still manually assign the product to a student as a purchase, but students will not see the product otherwise.
- Additional (and optional) settings are choosing the game(s) associated with this product, the platform (e.g. computer, console, or mobile), the number of items remaining for purchase, and a purchase limit per student.

## Tracking Purchases

Products can be purchased by the student from your public profile or you can create a purchase manually. Orders can be created manually for a student profile, even if the profile doesn’t have a user account associated with it. This enables tracking purchases that happened outside of the Coachify platform, allowing you to have accurate metrics for all of your students in one place. 

To manually record a purchase, use the “Add Order” form on the [Orders page](/app/orders). It has you pick the student profile to receive the purchase, the product that is being purchased, and the price. By default, the price is automatically set to the price defined by the product, but you can change this to any value (including free). Finally, the form allows you to set a payment status: Pending, Canceled, Declined, or Successful. This makes it easy to know if a student has actually paid you for their purchase. The payment status for the purchase can also be changed later, like when the student's payment has cleared.

## Payment Methods

Currently there are two supported payment methods on Coachify, Invoice and PayPal. Invoice means the student completed their checkout without submitting any payment information and you as the coach will need to follow up and collect payment. Much like manually creating a purchase (above), you can update the payment status of an Invoice purchase. After the student submits their purchase, it will show up in your "Pending Orders" table on the [home dashboard](/app) until the status is changed. To make it easier for your students, the checkout message that is displayed when using the Invoice payment method can be customized through your [Billing Settings](/app/account/settings/billing). 

The other payment method is PayPal. To use PayPal, you must first connect your PayPal account to your Coachify account and enable PayPal as a payment method. You can even choose to [disable Invoice](/app/account/settings/billing) as an option so that all customers must use PayPal at checkout. When a customer completes a purchase using PayPal, the money goes straight to your PayPal account after it is released by PayPal. Inside Coachify, the order payment status is updated automatically based on its status in PayPal. Coachify does **NOT** take a commission or service fee on payments made through PayPal, however you are responsible for any fees imposed by PayPal.
