
When it comes to selling lessons, VOD reviews, or other types of coaching, Coachify provides a flexible framework to properly track all of a coach’s sales. Unlike other platforms which charge a commission on payments, Coachify takes zero commission and makes it easy to track payments that happen inside and out of its platform.

To track a student’s order that occurs outside of Coachify, coaches manually create an order through the [Orders](/app/orders) page or directly from the [student’s profile](/app/students). By clicking the “Add order” button, the coach can choose the student making the purchase (this will be pre-selected if creating an order from a student profile), the [product](/app/products) that the student is purchasing, and the order total. The total uses the product’s default cost, however it can be modified when creating the order (e.g. to reflect a discount). Finally, the coach can set the payment status of the order. This payment status is the only thing that can be changed after the order is created. Coaches can use the payment status to track if they have actually collected payment from the student.

When a student is making a purchase from the coach’s public profile (see our [founder’s profile](/@jhilton) for an example), there are two payment methods available:
- Invoice is the default payment method that is provided to all coaches. Essentially this allows the student to pick what they want to buy and shows the total cost, but without requiring payment through the website. The newly created order will have a payment status of “Pending” and shows up on the coach’s dashboard. The coach proceeds to collect their payment from the student outside of Coachify and can edit the payment status, just like when manually creating an order.
- PayPal is an option that allows coaches to connect their PayPal account to their Coachify account (initial setup is done [here](/app/account/settings/billing)). When a student makes a purchase using PayPal as the payment method, the student is redirected to PayPal to complete the purchase. Once the student finishes with PayPal, the money is transferred directly to the coach’s connected PayPal account and the order status in Coachify is updated to “Successful”. No commission or fees are taken by Coachify and the money is available to the coach as soon as PayPal completes the transaction.

Coaches with a connected PayPal account have the option to only offer PayPal as a payment method. This can be done at the product level (by removing all options but PayPal when editing the product) or at the account level on the [Billing settings](https://coachify.gg/app/account/settings/billing) page. Once completed, students will only be able to complete a purchase through PayPal.
